Our base in the village of Podriga, is 200 yards from the hospital at Podriga for psychiatric patients, chronic and acute, who reside there for the whole of their lives. Up until late 2017 we offered a day centre service which took a group of patients to our house for programmes of daily living – hygiene needs, art and music therapy in all its manifestations, growing food in our garden and preparing meals, looking after the house and animals. Patients were assisted on a one-to-one basis to develop skills and become more independent. Changes in the local context have meant that we now use our base for mobile services to far-flung institutions which have not benefited in the past.
